FOLLOWING the fatal poisoning of a pair of nesting Peregrines at Titterstone Clee last June and the consequent loss of the young peregrines in the nest a public meeting will discuss how these birds a prey can be protected.
The Shropshire Peregrine Group, together with the West Mercia Police, the quarry management (Midland Quarry Products) and local residents are organising additional protection measures at this vulnerable nest site this year.
A new pair of these rare and iconic falcons have recently returned to the Titterstone Clee area and are expected to nest again in either the disused quarry or the working area in early April.
Their activities are being monitored by members of the Peregrine Group.
A public meeting will be held this evening (Wednesday, March 23) at 7.30 pm at the Clee Hill Recreation Room, to discuss the protection measures being introduced this year.
The Peregrine Group are determined to prevent another attack on these protected falcons and are calling for the support of local Clee Hill residents and anyone with information as to the identity of the culprits responsible for last year's loss.
