A PRIMARY School in Clun is getting ready to walk and wants people from the town to join them.
St. George's Primary School, Clun PTA is preparing for its annual fundraising challenge walk and they would like you to take part.
"This is the 14th year our walk has been held,” said Carol Booker, the walk co-ordinator.
Entrants can choose to walk, or run, 16 or 26 miles around the beautiful South Shropshire hills surrounding the school.
“The walk is renowned for its hospitality and enduringly popular because of the copious refreshments along the way including fruit, chocolate, hot dogs, soup, hot and cold drinks and plentiful homemade cakes, followed by a delicious, freshly made buffet at the end," she added.
"This is all included for the price of £22 and means entrants don't really need to carry any of their own food."
In the past the funds raised by the walk have been used to upgrade computer equipment, books, fund workshops and pay for transport to take the children on trips. Last year's walk helped pay for new outdoor play equipment. 2016's takings will be used to help pay for Phase two of this project to improve the school's outdoor space including providing a new kitchen garden, further play and sports equipment and help rejuvenate the existing playground.
This year's walk will be on Saturday, May 14 and entries are welcomed online via www.clunvalleychallenge.com, by contacting Liz Marpole on 640028, or via email at info@clunvalleychallenge.com. Entries are limited to 300 so get your place soon to avoid disappointment. Walk T-shirts are also available.
