TRAINS will once more be operating at Lydham Heath Station, near Bishop's Castle, despite the line closing over 80 years ago!

This time, however, the trains will be a lot smaller than before because they are built to a scale of 1:64 and are powered by electricity!

The “S” scale model is in Bishop's Castle Railway Museum and will be operating on Sunday (May 15) from 1.30 to 5.00pm.

It was built by renowned modeller Barry Norman and has been in the museum for several years.

“We have owned the layout for some time but never had it operating,” said John Rimmer, chairman of the Bishops Castle Railway Society.

“This is a chance for people to see what Lydham Heath looked like in the 1930s.  We hope people will take the chance to see the museum and learn about the Railway Society.”

This event coincides with the launch of a new book on the Railway, one of a series about Bishop’s Castle published by the Town Hall Trust and launched on Sunday afternoon at 2.30 in the Town Hall.
