A COUNTRY garden near Clun is opening for the first time in support of the National Gardens Scheme.

The garden at Guilden Down Cottage on the outskirts of Clun, in the far south of the county, will be open for the first time for the National Gardens Scheme in Shropshire on Sunday (May 15).

Owners Mike Black and Sue Wilson have been developing the garden at Guilden Down for the past 12 years.

Extending over an acre around the attractive cottage, the garden is completely organic and has a balance between man and nature.

“All in all this is a wonderful garden for all ages to visit,” said Allison Walter, one of the organisers of the NGS in Shropshire.

The National Gardens Scheme supports a number of charities including Macmillan, Marie Curie, Hospices UK and the Carers Trust.

Admission to Guilden Down Cottage on Sunday between 2pm and 6pm is £4.00 for adults, free for children. Guilden Down Cottage is one mile outside Clun. Homemade teas will be available; wheelchair access is to front garden only and dogs are welcome on leads.
