LAST year members were allocated a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All. It was decided to hold a patchwork and quilting workshop, open to members, non-members, any age. Members meet twice a month. Some of the group had not done this before, others are learning new skills and fresh ideas. The group enjoy the sessions making new friends, helping each other with different ideas, colour schemes etc. Among the items members have made are cushion covers, wall hangings, bags and table runners.
Janet Morgan (WI member) and her friend Genevieve Lewis have volunteered to help and advise at these workshops. Mary Jane Millard and Alvis Cummings did most of the ground work to get the grant and buy the necessary equipment to run them. Mary Jane also gets the room set up with the help of the group and supplies endless cups of tea and coffee etc.
Members are having a break during August but are getting back together in September. The 2nd and 4th Saturday in the month 10am-1pm. So next time you buy a lottery ticket and think I never win anything, come and join us, make new friends. They you can say I have had something from the lottery.
Bitterley WI also run a craft club. The 4th Thursday evening in the month. Making something different each month. This is open to members and non-members any age. The classes are held the 4th Thursday evening every month at 7.30pm At the classes they do different crafts using all sorts of materials learning new skills. If you are interested in crafts come along with your ideas.
Both these activities are held at Bitterley village hall. For further information please contact Mary Jane Millard on 01584 890749.
