SUPERMARKET giant Tesco has confirmed that it is due to start demolition work on the old cattle market site in Tenbury.
Developers are due to start on the site shortly ahead of formal construction work for the new store removing buildings next to the former fire station, according to Harriett Baldwin MP for West Worcestershire MP whose constituency includes Tenbury.
Tesco representatives have contacted the MP to brief her on the work.
“There have been historic question marks over the future of the Tesco store construction so it is helpful to be kept informed,” she said.
"Whatever your views about this development, it is better to have certainty rather than a site with planning blight in such a prominent location in this wonderful town.
“I hope that as the company moves forward on this project we will also see it fulfilling its pledge to support the Tenbury Transport Trust, and that it will allow the Tenbury Museum to relocate and invest in flood defences along the River Teme.”
