WE were greeted with a wonderful display of hats of all shapes and sizes as we entered the village hall for our February meeting. Our speaker for the evening was Jennifer Shaw of Jennifer Rose Millinery, who also just happens to be one of our members. We heard about the history of hats, how the materials for hats used to be made, where the name milliner came from, all sorts of interesting facts, we saw samples of fabric and learnt how a hat is constructed, then on to the finished creations, which were so varied from fascinators to fedora's in every colour you could wish to see.
After refreshments we dealt with this month's business, president Sue Marsh outlined plans for forthcoming outings after our successful trip to the panto, which was enjoyed by all that went.
Competition : 1st Jean Childe, 2nd Mary Pritchard, 3rd Dot Griffiths.
Flower of the month: 1st Kath Watkins, 2nd Sheila Griffiths, 3rd Sue Marsh.
Our next meeting on March 17 is an open meeting, our speaker is the Rev Kelvin Price, as you all probably know Kelvin is leaving later this year, this would be a good opportunity for everyone to hear his story, from his life in the army to his next appointment as chaplain at Christ College in Brecon. We are a friendly group so put the date in your diary.
