AN action plan to deal with future flooding in part of Ludlow is being prepared.
Friends of the Corve and Teme – Ludlow’s flood action group – have met to discuss the creation of Ludlow’s Flood Action Plan.
Working with Thomasin Sayers, community flood resilience officer at the National Flood Forum, the group will produce a draft plan based on concerns felt by residents affected by flooding and the consequences of surface water from drains.
The plan will be discussed and refined in early December, and the approved version will act as the agenda at a meeting with multi-agency representatives in late January.
“Our priority is to establish on-going dialogues with relevant individuals within the Environment Agency, Severn Trent Water, Shropshire Highways and other local and national organisations”, said Rosemary Wood, chairman of Friends of the Corve and Teme.
“If the Friends can speak with one voice for everyone with a river maintenance or water management problem, we can achieve a great deal.
“Our website contains useful links, historical data and information on planning applications which may affect surface water and drainage, or impinge on existing flood plains.”
