A bird that was once on the edge of extinction is now a regular sight in south Shropshire.
The magnificent Red Kite has now become a regular visitor to the skies in the area and a feeding station is being established at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms.
Slightly larger than a Buzzard and easily identifiable with its distinctive forked tail and red colouring it is the largest bird of prey in the UK being dwarfed only by the Golden Eagle and White Tailed Sea Eagle that are confined to Scotland.
The bird was heavily persecuted and not very long ago was confined to a small area of mid-Wales but it has now made a remarkably recovery.
It can now be seen in many parts of the country.
