A LUDLOW health campaigner says that the town must stand behind Bishops Castle in order to make sure that the community hospital in the town stays open.
Gill George, who is an ‘Advertiser’ columnist and part of the group set up to defend the NHS in Shropshire, says that this is a time for solidarity.
She makes the comments at a time when there are calls to reopen the bid for a health hub in Ludlow.
Health bosses have told Ludlow MP and former health minister Philip Dunne that the closure of the hospital in Bishops Castle is a temporary measure but there is concern that it could become permanent.
“Ludlow councillors have suggested Ludlow needs a health hub,” said Ms George.
“The first essential step is to stand in solidarity with Bishops Castle and save their hospital. If health bosses get away with closing Bishop’s Castle Hospital, Ludlow Hospital will be next in line.”
