THE devastating flooding of 2020 was avoided but last year was another wet one.
Derek Small, a farmer from Greete, who has been keeping weather records for more than 50 years says that the trend towards more rain is continuing.
The wettest month of the year was October which is often the case.
Other wet months with more than 100mm of rain were January, and May.
February that had seen the serious flooding a year earlier was relatively dry with 69mm of rain.
April was the driest month of the year as can often be the case.
Mr Small has said that levels of rainfall can the different in places just a short distance apart and his records apply to his home on his farm in Greete.
He says there is a clear trend, over the years that he has been keeping records, towards warmer and wetter winters.
