THREE thousand images depicting a photographer’s experience of mental illness taken during a 100 day spell in hospital are to be exhibited at various venues around Ludlow.
The images are part of an exhibition titled ‘Hypergraphia’ and were taken by photographer Chris Friel and are accompanied with a soundtrack by Matthew Herbert.
The exhibition is organised by The Photo Space gallery, and starts on May 12 to coincide with Mental Health Awareness Week and runs until July 10.
The exhibition features a sequence of photographs, one image every minute, taken throughout the 100 days Chris Friel spent in hospital, a total of 150,000 images, all taken in a small white room with a single window.
Mr Friel’s images tackle the subject of the mind and mental illness. During the exhibition the Photo Space in Quality Square will be open Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30am – 4:30pm, and other times by appointment.
