MORE 40 French visitors from the twin town of La Ferté-Macé spent a delightful weekend in Ludlow with host families to celebrate its 35th anniversary this year.
Following a welcome from Ludlow’s Mayor and Deputy Mayor and a chance to sample the local beer at Ludlow Brewery, French guests got a flavour of life at the heart of industrial Britain, and the film set of “Peaky Blinders”, at the Black Country Outdoor Museum.
The focus returned to Ludlow on the Saturday, with options of a guided town tour in French, a walk in Mortimer Forest, an open garden and a game of croquet, courtesy of the Ludlow Croquet Club.
An evening of film, dining, singing and dancing at the Shropshire Discovery Centre rounded off a happy and fun visit.
“Restarting these exchange visits after a two-year Covid break was a challenging prospect for everyone at first,” said Grace Wilkins, of the twinning group.
Next time a group from Ludlow will visit La Ferte-Mace.
