FIREFIGHTERS have been called to rescue a stranded dog from Millenium Green in Ludlow.
The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Crew from Ludlow's station said the dog, Oscar, became stranded on the opposite side of the river Teme when he decided to go exploring.
But Oscar soon realised he was not a keen swimmer, a spokesperson for the station said.
Thankfully, he crossed a small section of shallow still water and firefighter Ward carried out the rescue and returned him to his owner.
Oscar was not injured but had a "very wet waggy tail", they said.
Sharing advice, firefighters said anyone in a similar situation should not enter the water, shout or panic, or try to encourage the pet back.
After the station shared the update on Facebook after the callout at Saturday, April 8 at around 7.15pm, Michelle Vallone said: "Thanks, guys, he was appropriately respectfully told off."
