AN iconic pub near Ludlow that has been closed for nearly two years is to reopen next month, with the owner saying that he wants it to be welcoming to all.
The Bateman Arms in Shobdon was put up for sale in the summer of 2021 after it shut.
However, Mike Pope, together with Coach House Inns (CHI), have confirmed it will be reopening during the week of May 22.
This is after a review of feedback regarding the potential sale, including the desire shown by villagers for the pub to reopen.
"We want to have a lovely pub which is welcoming to all with a menu of classic and modern dishes, serving local ales, great beer and ciders with a fantastic wine list," said Mr Pope.
"Together with Sarah and our family, I want the Bateman Arms to not only be a success, but also be a key part of the community for a long time to come.
"With the help and support of the community, we know we can make the pub a success and return it to its place as the hub of the community."
The precise reopening date is due to revealed closer to the time, as well as a number of other updates.
