IF you're a fan of burgers and pizza then you're in for a treat as they're all part of a 'soft launch menu' that will be served at a pub near Ludlow as part of its reopening.
The Bateman Arms, in Shobdon, has been closed for the past two years. But after receiving positive feedback from locals, Mike Pope has decided to reopen it.
Tomorrow evening (Friday) and Saturday daytime, the pub will be serving drinks only, with a reduced menu being available from Saturday evening.
The pub will also be open all day from midday to 9pm on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, with food being from from 12 to 4 and 12 to 6 respectively.
On offer are a range of burgers and pizzas, including 'the Bateman Burger' - a double beef patty with smoked streaky bacon, Monterey Jack cheese, tomato chutney, gem lettuce, red onion, pickles, burger sauce and fries.
Other burgers that customers can try are a halloumi stack, buttermilk chicken and a 'porky burger' while you can also have have half a kilo of chicken wings.
Meanwhile, the pizzas on offer - which all made with fresh stretched dough, topped with tomato and melted cheese - are a porker (pepporoni, spicy sausage, bacon, pulled pork, mushrooms and red onion), florentine (olives, spinach, cracked egg and red onion), El Diablo (chorizo, spicy sausage, peri chicken, peppers and Frank's hot sauce) and margherita. A variety of starts and desserts are also on the menu.
Writing on the pub's Facebook page, Mr Pope said: "We hope that you all understand that we wanted to get the pub open for you for the weekend and holidays. We want the pub to be a huge success and are always thankful for your support.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from the village who have supported our efforts and dug deep with us, it couldn't have happened without you."
A full menu will be available sometime in June.
