A CHURCH clock that stopped working before the Covid-19 pandemic is now back in operation.
Villagers in Leintwardine, near Ludlow, celebrated the news at an event held in the St Mary Magdalene church tower. The community enjoyed barrel organ music by Nick Williams and accordion music by Phil Trewinnard, and some even went up the tower to see the renovated clock working again.
The children of Leintwardine Primary School also completed a project on the theme of time to commemorate the church clock’s return.
The church received funding from Lasletts, Pilgrim Trust, Church Care Trust and the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, with the work being completed by Time Assured, a specialist horological company.
The experienced clockmakers who restored the clock have worked in the industry for many years and provide services on a national scale.
The finishing touch on the clock will be the tweaking of its hands, which will complete the restoration.
