A DRIVER has been banned from the roads again after his case was heard by magistrates for a second time.

Jack Michael Richard Wooles appeared before magistrates in Hereford for trial on May 25 after entering a not guilty plea to one count of failing to identify a driver to police at an earlier hearing in March.

The 27-year-old had previously been disqualified from driving for six months for the offence in his absence, but the case went to trial after he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March to make a statutory declaration, saying he had been unaware of the proceedings against him until he read of his conviction in the Hereford Times.

The court heard from the prosecutor that Wooles was accused of failing to identify the driver of a Honda Civic, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence, to police in Tenbury Wells when required to do so on June 27.

Wooles, of Northolme Road, Hereford, was found guilty of the offence by magistrates and was disqualified from driving for six months, with magistrates saying a roads ban was obligatory due to repeat offending.

He also received six penalty points, was fined £630, and was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £150 and a £252 victim surcharge.
