A NURSERY in Ludlow has been graded ‘good’ by Ofsted after concerns about security last year.

Tick Tock, a childcare service based in the clock house at Moor Park school, received a ‘good’ rating in each area: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, development, and leadership and management.

This follows a concern reported by Ofsted in July last year regarding a “significant event” which was deemed to affect the suitability of the early years provider to look after children. However, Tick Tock took action by improving the security of an external gate and is now meeting safeguarding requirements.

Regarding safeguarding, the inspector said: “The arrangements are effective. The manager and staff fully understand their role and responsibility to keep children safe. Staff have good understanding of procedures to follow if they are concerned about a child’s welfare. The manager follows the correct procedure if there are allegations made against staff. The premises are safe and secure. There are robust recruitment procedures in place and ongoing checks mean staff working with children remain suitable.”

The inspector has praised the nursery leadership, noting an exciting and interesting curriculum that builds on what children already know and can do with a strong focus on helping children and their families to feel settled.

The inspector praised the education being provided but noted a weakness in the learning environment during “transition periods” when the inspector observed behaviour deteriorating.

The Ludlow Advertiser contacted Tick Tock for comment ahead of publication but has not received a response.
