AN ABUSIVE woman has been handed a suspended sentence after an incident in Craven Arms.
Christine Gallagher entered a guilty plea to one count of using threatening, abusive, or insulting behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence when she appeared before magistrates in Telford in May after entering a not guilty plea at an earlier hearing.
The court heard that the 37-year-old had used threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour towards another woman in Craven Arms, Shropshire, on October 20, with intent to cause them to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against her or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence.
Gallagher, of Long Lane, Craven Arms, was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay compensation of £100, with magistrates saying they had taken her guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.
She was also ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge.
