A MAN escaped with minor injuries after a glider overturned during take off in Church Stretton.
The Schleicher ASK 13 was reportedly about 100 to 200 feet in the air when the crash happened at Midland Gliding Club in Long Mynd at around 10.30am on Saturday (July 1).
An ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were all sent to the scene where, on arrival.
Medics treated one man for injuries not believed to be serious before he was sent to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
A second man was assessed by medical staff but he did not wish to go to hospital. He was therefore given self-care advice and discharged at the scene.
Five fire engines from Bishop's Castle Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Wellington were also sent. A remscat saw and small gear were used to release the casualty before he was handed over to the ambulance service.
