A BUCKNELL couple are set to celebrate a milestone anniversary next month.
John and Violet Morris will be celebrating 70 years of marriage on September 5th, having spent 77 years together in total.
The couple met in 1946 at a dance in Leintwardine when Mr Morris was 18 and Mrs Morris was 16, going on to marry in 1953 at St Mary’s church in Bucknell.
Once they were married the pair moved into a property in Bucknell. Whilst Mr Morris was born in Leintwardine, Mrs Morris has lived in Bucknell for her entire life and has lived in the village for longer than anyone other local, having been there for over 90 years.
Mr Morris had a long career with the Hereford council and Mrs Morris worked for many years at Bedstone college.
They enjoyed many mutual hobbies and have travelled much of Europe together, which is what they believe to have been key to them maintaining such a long relationship.
The couple now have two daughters, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
