A biker has been emergency airlifted after a crash on the Powys border between a car and a motorbike.
Emergency services were called out to an incident on the A488 between Bishop’s Castle and Churchstoke which involved a “head on collision” between a motorcycle and a car.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue said that they were called out to a crash near Clearview Stoves which involved two vehicles.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said: “At 14:54 on Friday, September 15, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Fire Control received a call reporting that a Road Traffic Collision had taken place in Bishops Castle.
“One fire appliance was mobilised from Bishops Castle.
“The road traffic collision involved a car in head on collision with motorbike."
West Mercia Police confirmed that the rider of the motorcycle had to be emergency airlifted by Air Ambulance for further treatment.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We are currently on scene at a collision between a car and motorbike on the A488.
“The motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries and has been flown to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham.”
Traffic was moving very slowly with tailbacks in both direction on the A488.
