A MAN has died after he was involved in a crash in Shrewsbury.
Emergency services, including two ambulances, a paramedic officer and air ambulances from Cosford and Tatenhill were called to Longden Road at around 3.20pm yesterday (January 11).
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “On arrival, crews found a car had come off the road and ended up on its roof.
“The driver, a man, was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.
“Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.
“There were no other patients.”
The road was closed for several hours, with diversions put in place at the junctions with Belle Vue Gardens and South Hermitage.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said the man was in his 80s. She added that one other person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
