AN UNINSURED driver has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds after he was caught out while behind the wheel of a car in a Ludlow residential street.
Richard John Scott was proven guilty of one count of using a motor vehicle on a road or in a public place without third party insurance by magistrates in January.
The court heard from the prosecutor that the 54-year-old, who was not present at the hearing, had been caught using a Mazda in Ludlow's Sandpits Road on May 25.
Checks revealed that he did not have a valid third-party insurance policy in place at the time.
Scott, of Wheatcommon Lane, Ashford Carbonell, was fined £660 and received six penalty points on his driving licence for the offence.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £90 and a £264 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
