Planning permission has been granted for a single storey extension at a Grade II listed cottage in Lower Galdeford.
The planners' decision relating to proposed work at Tallow House, 65 Lower Galdeford also includes approval for the creation of a brick boundary wall and an extra parking space, as well as an extended dropped kerb.
Approving the plan, Shropshire Council stated that "The proposed extension is of a very modest scale, attached to a modern element of the building to the rear of the property. Due to its scale, form and materials it is considered to have a negligible impact upon the character and fabric of the listed building and the character and appearance of the conservation area.
The proposed wall will replace a modern fence, and with appropriate materials will enhance overall the significance of the heritage asset whilst providing some public benefit in terms of safer access/egress. The proposal is therefore considered to generally accord with policies, guidance and legislation as outlined above from a conservation perspective.
The existing vehicle access/parking space is off a cul-de-sac and is therefore very lightly trafficked. A precedent has been set by the existing parking arrangement an therefore an extra parking space is not considered unacceptable. The Highway Authority would not wish to raise objection.
The creation of the extra parking space is for visitors. The perimeter fencing will match the current fencing and be similar in height, while the dropped kerb will be extended to correspond with the extra parking space.
