A TENBURY woman who has provided invaluable service to many people in the town has been recognised for her work.
Louise Taylor has volunteered at Tenbury Transport Trust after it was set up in the late 1990s.
It is a non-profit-making service dedicated to the provision of transport for people in Tenbury and the surrounding area who would otherwise not have access.
As well as being a volunteering driver, Mrs Taylor is also a trustee and chair of the trust.
To thank her for her efforts, she was presented with mayor's commendation at the recent Tenbury Town Council annual residents meeting.
"Tenbury Transport Trust is a significant part of the Tenbury community," said Lesley Bruton, clerk at Tenbury Town Council.
"It is a non-profit making service dedicated to the provision of transport for the residents of Tenbury and its surrounding area for anyone who does not have access to adequate or appropriate transport.
"In addition, Louise has worked tirelessly for over 30 years with the youth of Tenbury providing activities, opportunities, information and support, which has been extremely appreciated and made a significant difference to the youth of the town."
Becky Evans, an administrator at Tenbury Transport Trust, added that Mrs Taylor is 'a very caring, patient and understanding person'.
"Lou used to have a shop in the high street (gift shop, Harlequin) so is a real community person," she said.
"It was founded in the late 1990s as Tenbury Transport Group, and in 2014 it became Tenbury Transport Trust.
"She is really good at putting people's minds at ease and looking after them, making sure they have everything they need."
During the past year, 252 people have used the service.
The charity is always on the lookout for more volunteers, especially in the villages surrounding Tenbury, with all travel costs reimbursed.
