There will soon be a new face at the helm at the refreshed Ludlow Assembly Rooms as the venue welcomes businessman and Ludlow resident Adam Tutt as its new interim business manager.
Announcing the change, outgoing interim business manager Steve Catanach says: “I am beyond delighted to welcome Adam Tutt as my very worthy successor. As a local resident and lover of the arts, it has been a great pleasure and privilege to lead the team here since last autumn.
"Mine was always a temporary appointment; my background as an HR and business efficiency manager has, I hope, been useful in preparing the team of staff and volunteers for a busy future. My colleague Jessica Laurie, now leading on programming and engagement, is doing an outstanding job in bringing a wide variety of accessible events to LAR and I know that Adam’s skills and experience will entirely complement her work and that of the rest of the management team.
"Footfall to LAR is increasing month on month and to see so many local people enjoying the facility is something I know both of them are passionate about.”
Jess Laurie, Programming and Engagement Lead adds that, “The residents of Ludlow are as diverse as the architecture, and all of them are looking for entertainment.
"We are programming comedy, live music, talks, contemporary theatre and poetry as well as bringing back dance nights in Oscars (known for many years as the 'Sticky Carpet').
Adam, after 20 years directing hospitality venues in Ludlow says: “I am delighted at the opportunity to take on this role. It gives me a wonderful chance to continue the arts and cultural activity I have been passionate about over the years.
"I hope to further engage with all the diverse parts of the Ludlow community and encourage them to feel part of our fantastic arts venue.”
Laura Johnston, chair of the board of trustees, said: "On behalf of the board, I want to thank Steve for his hard work and the huge enthusiasm he has brought to the Assembly Rooms. He is like a whirlwind, but a very welcome one!"
