A HUGE upgrade has caused disruption at a Tenbury theatre.

A new projector has been installed in the Regal theatre on Teme Street, with a new screen expected to be delivered from Italy on Tuesday (June 4) and set up on Wednesday (June 5), debuting on June 8 with a showing of ‘If’.

Unfortunately a special matinee screening of Fisherman’s Friends had to be rescheduled to June 11 has been rescheduled in order for works to be done and for improvements to be carried out.

The screening was initially supposed to take place during volunteers week, which runs from June 3 to June 9, as a reward and celebration of the volunteers that help with marketing, administration, front of house and other aspects of the Regal’s day-to-day running.

The Regal is reliant on volunteers to help operate the theatre’s high specification projection, lighting and sound equipment, including the newly installed projector and soon-to-be-fitted screen, to facilitate live screen and satellite broadcast events, touring theatre companies, visiting bands and shows as well as its own large and small productions.

The multi purpose studio at the rear of the building regularly houses performances simultaneously with the main auditorium, doubling the need for attendant volunteers.

Entrance to the re-scheduled showing includes a hot drink and is free to all of the Regal’s volunteers. Whilst tickets are complimentary, they must be booked in advance either online or by visiting the box office.

A spokesperson for the theatre said: “This exciting upgrade will greatly enhance your viewing experience.

“Thank you for your understanding and support, we can’t wait to try out our new equipment and look forward to seeing you on June 11.

“This event is our way of saying thank you to our dedicated volunteers and those in the Tenbury Wells community.

“It's a unique opportunity to enjoy a film that exemplifies the spirit of community and the power of believing in each other's talents. Don’t miss out on this blend of laughter, music, and heartfelt storytelling as we celebrate the invaluable contributions of volunteers.”
