A MERCEDES van driver who failed to stop after he was involved in a crash has been handed a hefty fine and points on his licence.
Andrew McKnight, aged 61, was involved in a crash with a Vauxhall vehicle when driving a Mercedes Vito van in Newington Way, Craven Arms, on November 10 last year.
He was said to have been the driver of the mechanically propelled Mercedes vehicle, which was a Vito van.
But he failed to stop after the crash despite damage being caused to the other vehicle, said West Mercia Police prosecuting solicitor David Whittaker.
This is an offence under section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and schedule two of the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.
McKnight, of Brooklands Park, Craven Arms, was fined £300 by magistrates at Worcester Magistrates’ Court, and his driving record was endorsed with five penalty points. He must also pay court costs of £110.
