A LUDLOW optician team have completed a big challenge for a very good cause.
Team members from Specsavers in Ludlow walked 244 miles as part of a charity challenge, raising more than £230 for Cancer Research UK.
Optical assistant Samantha Walters, clinical technician Ellie Farmer, contact lens supervisor Leanne Stewardson, and directors Sophie Wragg and Nicola Aubrey took on the challenge of walking as many miles as they could over the course of a month.
‘We were keen to challenge ourselves in a bid to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, supporting what they do to help with the fight against the disease. It was tough, but we were over the moon to exceed our target of 240 miles!’ comments Samantha.
Store director at Specsavers Ludlow, Sophie Wragg, said: "We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who made a donation. Cancer Research UK is an incredible charity that’s close to our hearts, and we’re proud to be able to support the valuable work it does."
The team has previously thrown its efforts into other fundraising efforts, including raising money for the mother and baby unit at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham as part of National Smiles Day in 2023, and donning their favourite red attire for Red Nose Day in 2022, when they raised money for Comic Relief
