Ludlow’s historic market has gained a spot on the Shropshire Good Food Trail for 2024, showcasing the best of Shropshire's delicacies.

The trail aims to give light to the most delicious produce Shropshire has to offer, and this year features fifteen other Shropshire Markets, with both the Ludlow farmers market and the daily market making an appearance.

The map presents visitors with over a 100 Shropshire venues, aiming to show the “growing, making, selling or serving the county’s finest and most sustainably produced food”.

The 2024 theme is “Shropshire’s Abundance”, with the trail carefully designed to be a “celebration of Shropshire’s abundance. Local food that is good for people, the planet, and the local economy”.

Ludlow’s Market is rich with history, having been based on the same historic site for over 900 years, and has been described as the “heart of Ludlow town”.

Operating in the 15th and 16th century with a thriving cloth trade, the market is now managed by the local council, since acquiring it in April 1988.

Daphne Du Cros of the Shropshire Good Food Partnership said that the food trail would expand awareness and support for Shropshire’s food economy, and would contribute to an on-going drive to establish a local food system that benefits people, places and the planet.
