Shropshire council has commended students for their “resilience and perseverance” in taking their exams, following this years A-level results day.

On August 15 thousands of children across the county descended on their schools and colleges to pick up the much anticipated results.

A statement from the council said it recognised that the past few years of public examinations and had been “particularly challenging” for young people in Shropshire due to the continued disruption from the pandemic, which many students had experienced in their educational years.

Councillor Kirstie Hurst-Knight, cabinet member for children and education, said:

“I would like to say a huge congratulations to all our pupils who took exams this year and would like to acknowledge and praise their efforts and dedication.

“After some tough years, it’s great to see education and examinations returning to normalcy. I would also like to thank all the teachers, school and college staff, including the virtual school staff who support our looked-after students, for their incredible dedication in preparing young people for their next steps.
