WITH energy prices expected to rise in the run-up to winter, many people will be thinking about the places they can keep warm as the days get colder.

The charity National Energy Action said energy debt is at record levels and some households will have “no choice other than debt or going cold”.

The issue is one that will resound with many this year, especially with Government cuts to the Winter Fuel Allowance.

A network of Warm Welcome Spaces has been created including a number of places in Worcester.

These are heated spaces that are free to enter and will offer a warm welcome, a cup of tea and someone to chat to.

Many also have free wifi and computers for people to use, as well as free activities to join in such as fitness classes or crafting.

Places offering a place to warm up and get some refreshments aren’t limited to the city, with plenty of Warm Welcome Spaces in Worcestershire listed on the warmwelcome.uk website.

In Tenbury, anyone seeking a place to spend some time in the warm is welcome to the town's Teme Street library.

Located at 24 Teme Street, WR15 8AA, the library offers a large collection of books for adults and children, free WiFi and access to computers.

The library's Warm Welcome listing said it also hosts regular activities for adults and children, many of which are free. The town centre library is easily accessible by public transport, while there are also public car parks nearby.
