Young people and families in Tenbury are being encouraged to get active and win prizes as part of a new explorer-style game.
Malvern Hills District Council, which covers Tenbury, has partnered with Street Tag to launch the game in schools across the district until 18 November 18.
Street Tag is a free, family-friendly smartphone app game that records your physical activity and encourages you to explore your local area by visiting virtual tags and collecting points across the Malvern Hills District.
Up to 250 people can represent a school team and parents or carers, grandparents, teachers and other school staff can all sign up and collect tags and points to help their school climb the leaderboard.
Tags can be placed or collected throughout the district, including parks, footpaths and bridleways, leisure centres and other public spaces.
So far, 17 schools across the district have signed up to take on the challenge and win prizes.
Cash prizes of up to £200 are up for grabs, as well as swim passes, monthly memberships and more from Freedom Leisure and cinema tickets and a family pantomime ticket from Malvern Theatres.
Council leader Councillor Tom Wells said: “By launching Street Tag in our schools, we want to encourage families to walk, cycle and roll to school, to be physically active and to connect with green spaces. We are so excited for schools to get involved and to climb that leaderboard, win prizes, and more importantly, have fun!.”
Seun Oshinaike, chief executive officer of Street Tag said: “At Street Tag, we are thrilled to see schools in the Malvern Hills District embracing the joy of physical activity.
"By turning everyday journeys into a fun, interactive game, we’re not only inspiring healthier habits but also building stronger, more connected communities. We can’t wait to see the impact this has on both young people and their families.”
Schools can still sign up to Street Tag, despite the late start date, by visiting www.malvernhills.gov.uk/community/active-travel/street-tag.
