A LUDLOW opticians organised a bingo event for the local community, raising £1,700 for a sight charity.

Specsavers at 10 Bull Ring hosted the charity bingo night at Burway Bowling Club.

All the money raised was donated to OcuMel UK, a charity supporting those affected by ocular melanoma, a type of eye cancer.

Prizes for the winners of each bingo game were donated by local businesses, including Bodenhams, the Shed Bar and Kitchen, Ludlow Racecourse, Pitter Potter and more.

‘We were delighted to be able to support an amazing charity by putting on a fantastic night of entertainment,’ says Specsavers Ludlow store director, Sophie Wragg. ‘It was a really well attended event, with 100 people joining in the fun to raise money for OcuMel UK!"

Samantha Walters, optical assistant, adds: ‘We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped us to reach such a fantastic fundraising total, as well as to the local businesses who kindly donated prizes. We’re really grateful to be part of such an amazing community in Ludlow.’
