Crowds gathered in Tenbury Wells this weekend, to remember the soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice during times of war.

On Sunday (November 10), a Remembrance parade began from Tesco to St Mary's Church, with a wreath-laying ceremony taking place shortly after.

A church service was also held, to commemorate the important day which sees thousands around the country pay their respects to Britain's fallen soldiers.

On Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, we remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

On Monday (November 11) the town held a two-minute silence ceremony for Armistice Day, with residents gathering at the Civic Memorial Garden, followed by refreshments at the Pump Rooms.

West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin also paid her respects this year, by placing a cross at the Garden of Remembrance in Westminster.

And the MP will take part in events marking Remembrance Sunday and the Armistice at events in Tenbury Wells and Great Malvern this weekend.

Each year, the MP is invited to join events marking those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life, at public events of remembrance in the four main towns in West Worcestershire.

The Dame was represented in Pershore by her husband James Baldwin, Councillor David Watkins also joined the Malvern events on her behalf and Councillor Jeremy Owenson placed a wreath on Dame Harriett’s behalf in Upton-upon-Severn.

"It is always an honour to be asked to join formal events to mark those who gave their lives to protect us and our way of life.

“I placed a cross at the Garden of Remembrance in Westminster and will be joining community leaders at formal events across West Worcestershire this weekend.

“It is vital that the nation continues the tradition of remembering those who have died for our country and that we also proudly wear our poppies to raise money for the Royal British Legion charity.”
