Tenbury's MP has called on residents to have their say on plans to build a permanent flood defence scheme.
Dame Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire has said that the risks of fast-rising water mean that the Environment Agency cannot reach the town in time to erect the multiple barriers and floodgates which will be needed to keep Tenbury dry.
Dame Harriett has now written to Tenbury residents and launched a survey to get people’s views on the scheme and also to ask people to sign up for the Flood Action Team.
Dame Harriett added that the flood defence plan is at a "crucial stage" where the Environment Agency needs help to overcome some of the "issues" flagged in the design process, including who will actually open and close the floodgates at any time of the day or night.
"“The aim is for the local survey to help advance the plans to the planning process, and I am eager to see a final design confirmed and submitted for planning permission.”
