Last Tuesday, as farmers travelled from across the country to London in protest at the imposition of Inheritance Tax on farms, those left at home demonstrated their solidarity by Wearing their Wellies.
At Diddlebury Village Hall, in the heart of a farming community, the committee decided to join in to show their support of local farmers facing the stress and worry the new measure has caused."
"We decided to come out in support of them by joining the national initiative of Wearing our Wellies today," said Kim Simm on behalf of the DVH committee. "We put the word out to all our followers on Facebook and our local Google group and invited anyone that wanted to join us to come along after lunch to our lovely village hall.
"More than 50 people turned out – many of them farmers who couldn’t travel to London because they were looking after their family farms. We were thrilled to have had so many people make the effort to come and join us."
