AN elderly woman has died after a house fire broke out in Tenbury Wells early this morning.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus to retrieve the lady, the only person inside, from the Mount Orchard property but paramedics could not revive her.
Two fire engines from Tenbury, two from Leominster and another from Bromyard were called out just before 6am and found the building well alight.
An aerial ladder platform from Hereford was also later brought in to make the building safe after the fire, which is believed to have started in the lounge, was brought under control.
Crews were still there at 1.30pm dampening down the flames and making it secure enough for fire investigators to enter.
Most of the rest of the house and roof was thought to have suffered heat and smoke damage.
