REGARDING the dispute over the internal changes at St Mary's Church, Tenbury Wells.
Having moved into the area in the last 18 months because of health reasons, I, as a practising Christian, was concerned that I would not find a church fellowship that would fulfil my husband and mine's spiritual lives.
However, St Mary's, Tenbury, made themselves known and we have been very blessed with the caring and friendly people we have met.
Believers should well know that the people are the church, not the building. God wants our hearts not elaborate buildings and must be very distressed that his people should be disagreeing on things that really are not important. The world is in a mess, and helping to change any small part of it, and working for God to that end, should be the most important thing that we Christians can do.
It certainly does not give a very good message to non-believers when they read the front of the Tenbury Advertiser (November 4), of the apparent disunity there is among some of the congregation.
Personally we find it an asset, as elderly and infirm, that the altar is closer and we have not as far to walk, but that is just a personal preference.
Please let's send out the right message to the town that we are loving, caring Christians and united in the fight for Christ.
That should be our major priority, to encourage the people to want to come to a warm, caring and spiritually happy place. Many in this church are working so hard to these ends and need all the help and encouragement they can get.
A concerned member.
