Your correspondent of November 18 observes that the Corvedale Buzzard is not a public service. This is true, but we do service the public with our bus.
As a community bus all our passengers are merely requested to ring in and book their travel. We collect and deliver door to door within a scheduled service.
Our stopping times only vary by the door to door deviations we might make. As most of our passengers are generally the same people, the time variations are negligible.
To all intents and purposes we are a direct replacement for withdrawn services. Your same correspondent ponders that as a direct replacement no money is saved. This is not true.
The conventional bus operator has many overheads such as management costs, drivers' wages, office and yard costs. The Buzzard has none of these. Our managers are all volunteers, as are our drivers.
The office is somebody's kitchen table and our overnight parking is courtesy of a philanthropic barn owner. We do not print timetables nor can we afford an advertising budget. Our website (www.thebuzzard.co.uk) gives you all our schedules. You can also enquire on 01584 861475.
