SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB: Members were welcomed by the chairman, Mrs M Haywood, who reminded them that future meetings would be in the United Reformed Church Hall.
Arrangements for the December 10 Christmas lunch were discussed.
A talk and demonstration of handbell ringing was given by Mr R Stanley and several members had a go and played two songs.
FLOWER CLUB: The club meets next Tuesday, in the Silvester Horne Institute. Mrs Margaret Ecclestone will demonstrate A Joyful Christmas. Meetings are at 7.30pm and visitors are welcome. Entry £3.
STRETTON CANCER CARE: Members and guests are due to meet in the Royal Oak, Cardington for Christmas lunch on Friday, December 10.
The next day they will host a Christmas bazaar in the Silvester Horne Institute, 2-4pm. Donations of cakes, scones, tartlets, or items for the gift, book, toy or white elephant stalls or raffle, would be appreciated. The hall will be open from 1pm .
CHRISTMAS FAIRS: The 2nd Longmynd Scout Group holds its Christmas coffee morning and fair in the District Club on Saturday, at 10.30am. Santa arrives at 11am.
At 1pm, on the same day, the Animal Samaritans hold their Christmas fair in the parish centre. Santa will be in his grotto, and there will be a fashion show, books and cakes on sale. Admission is free.
MAYFAIR: The Friday Church Stretton Country Market now has Christmas goods on sale. The last opportunity to purchase will be Friday, December 17 as the market then closes until March.
SLEEPING BAGS: If anyone has sleeping bags or blankets which are no longer needed, they can donate them for use by homeless people in Shropshire. Offers can be made by ringing 01694 722133 or they may be taken along and left at Mayfair.
PRAYERS FOR PEACE: Drop in at St Laurence's Church between 10am - 4pm tomorrow (Friday) for prayers for peace. Specific prayer request for this month are by the Society of Friends, the Quakers.
ACTON SCOTT: There will be a Christingle service, on Sunday, at 11am in St Margaret's Church.
RUSHBURY: Winners in the November Tote in aid of Rushbury Village Hall were Mrs G Houghton and Mrs Liz Madeley each winning £5, T Dale and mine hosts of the Longville Arms each won £10, and Mr R C Madeley scooped £40.
The next tote draw will take place on January 8.
A bazaar will be held in the village hall on Saturday, at 6.30pm. Santa will also be there. It will be followed, at 8pm, by an 18-hand whist drive.
SCHOOL NEWS: A mufti day at St Lawrence's Primary School raised £117 for Children in Need. The Royal British Legion has thanked staff and pupils for raising £52.60 for the Poppy Appeal.
Church Stretton School held a Presentation Evening for last year's Year 11 leavers when certificates and prizes were handed out.
Deputy head, Andrew Smith, welcomed the former pupils, parents, governors and invited guests before handing over to headteacher, John Allen.
The presentation of certificates and awards was made by chair of governors, Mrs Carmen Cullis.
HOPE HOUSE: Tomorrow (Friday) Field House Residential Home hosts a coffee morning with stalls in aid of Hope House Children's Hospice.
LONGMYND CAMERA CLUB: Members are due to meet next Wednesday, when they will hold their second competition with trees as the subject.
The club has introduced a new system of judging; a points system providing a league table of scores.
But as a finale at the last meeting of the season members may enter a picture not previously placed, which will be judged by an outside judge.
The annual slide battle hosted by the Shropshire Photographic Society attracted five clubs. Joint winners were Hereford and Whitchurch with Longmynd Camera Club third.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC: The choral society presents its Christmas concert Christmas Glory, in Church Stretton School on Saturday, at 7.30pm. Tickets (£8) from Burway Books and choir members. On Sunday, December 11, there will be a celebration of Christmas in words and music with the More Singers in the Methodist Church, at 7.30pm..
