THE young man who was killed in a horrific collision on the A49 at Ashton last Wednesday has been named as the son of a former Leominster policeman .
Ian Brian Lycett, aged 22, of Blanchard Close, Leominster, had been travelling towards Ludlow, where he worked at Shukers Ltd, the Land Rover dealership, in a green Saab 9000 when he was involved in a collision with a 7.5 tonne Daf goods vehicle around 8.30am.
A silver Peugeot 206 was also involved in the incident but not in the collision.
The Saab and the lorry were both extensively damage and the A49 was closed for seven hours while investigations were under way.
Herefordshire's coroner, David Halpern, opened and adjourned an inquest into Mr Lycett's death on November 19.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision or any of the vehicles prior to the incident.
