I TRAVELLED to and from Bromyard on November 11 via Tenbury and was appalled at the state of the roads. The mud from tractors and trailers loaded with potatoes had covered the road with clods of soil the size of rugby balls and clay for a stretch of about four miles.
This sticky mess is extremely dangerous; the clay sticks in the tread of car tyres, makes the road slippy and will undoubtedly cause an accident.
I realise that farmers must get on with their jobs at this time of the year and travel on the roads, but surely they have an obligation to clear up the dangerous and unsightly mess. Is it not possible to use one tractor with clear tyres for road use and another in the field; or is this too obvious?
