I CANNOT let Mr Webley's letter of November 18 stand without commenting that the delays on October 26 were a near miss.
It was only due to the prompt handling by the Tenbury kitchen staff that we did not have a repeat of the disaster on October 12, when several meals were delivered after 3pm - hence the outcry in the press.
I have been appalled by the lack of forethought shown by the Worcester Food Office in the implementation of the new contact for the Worcestershire Social Services and there have been some misunderstandings about the exact changes involved.
As volunteers, the drivers and I, together with the Tenbury kitchen staff, have tried to make the transition as easy as possible and I am optimistic that the new method of supplying meals to Tenbury will prove more reliable in future.
It is to be hoped that these difficulties have now been sorted out and that we can continue to serve our housebound friends with hot and tasty meals of their choice.
