JIMMY Mullen is believed to have left the Coors Stadium after four months in charge of Ludlow Town. The Town were approached by Southern League Division One West side Bromsgrove Rovers last week with a view to discussing the possible appointment of Mullen as their new manager, a position it is understood he has subsequently accepted.
Mullen will replace Joe Jackson who left the Victoria Ground side last week by mutual consent. The former Bilston Town and Stourbridge manager, who led the latter to the Alliance title two years running, had only been in charge of Rovers since May this year.
Mullen said it was too good an opportunity to turn down as Rovers are a potentially big club in non-league circles. The former Blackpool and Burnley manager took over from Les Bristow at Ludlow just before the start of this season and has guided them through mixed times in his short spell at the Coors Stadium.
They have recorded some excellent cup wins, but with an unsettled side through injury, work and university commitments have struggled in the Midland Alliance. Ludlow slipped into bottom spot last Saturday, but he was not there to watch as he relinquished his position to deputy, Bernard Mackie with negotiations at Bromsgrove still in progress.
Mackie will be joining Mullen leaving Town looking for a new manager. This is likely to come from an internal source.
The pair join a side in mid-table with 21 points from 14 matches to last Saturday. He will however find his squad depleted as four players followed Jackson out of the club.
