Westfields 1 Woofferton 3
WOOFFERTON stayed on course to retain the Charity Bowl with a surprisingly comfortable victory at Hereford-based side Westfields in the third round tie. Having lost at the same venue 3-0 in the league, and with their opponents full of confidence at the top of the table, they entered the game with some trepidation.
On the day they responded with a gutsy performance that knocked their opponents out of their stride. The first half was a tight affair and ended goal-less.
Ben Apperley opened the scoring in the second half when he applied the finishing touches to a movement involving Jamie Marsh.
Mark Desborough doubled the score with a deflected shot from the edge of the box, and Neil Cocum wrapped it up with an individual third goal. The home team netted a late consolation goal when the Woofferton defence failed to clear a cross, but the result was never in doubt as the visitors held out in style.
