Stiperstones village is the Time Trail on Foot competition scheduled for Sunday, November 28.

It is open to runners and wayfarers, solo or in pairs, with interval start times from 9.30am - 11.30am.

n CAMERA CLUB: Longmynd Camera Club meets next Wednesday, in the Silvester Horne Institute upstairs committee room, at 7.30pm, when members will be putting forward an update on The Digital Scene.

Members have recently held their first club competition and taken part in the Shropshire Slide Challenge.

n BIRDS: The branch members of the Shropshire Ornithological Society will be getting together again in the Methodist Church Hall, at 7.30pm, next Monday, to hear Brayton Holt speaking about the birds of Kurdistan.

n WILDLIFE: The Strettons branch of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust is due to meet tomorrow (Friday), at 7.30pm, in the United Reformed Church Hall, to hear Mr and Mrs Jordan talk about hedgehogs.

Non-members are always welcome to attend.

n FOLK DANCING: The next folk dance evening to be held in Ticklerton Village Hall is scheduled for Saturday, from 8pm.

n COUNTRY MARKET: The Church Stretton Country Market, which is held on Fridays in Mayfair Community Centre, from 8.45am until 10.30am is now be geared up towards providing Christmas fare at the stalls.

They will be selling cakes, pastries, savouries, produce and preserves, together with some craft items and cards.

n READING GROUP: The first meeting of the Church Stretton Library Reading Group is due to take place next Wednesday, from 2-3.30pm.

n COFFEE MORNING: Stalls selling cakes, produce, books and a raffle will all be part of the scene at a coffee morning, which is due to be held in the Silvester Horne Institute, on Saturday, in aid of the Severn Hospice. Admission is 50p.

n SALE: A sale of Christmas cards and calendars is set to take place in the square on Saturday, in aid of the RNLI.

n MAYFAIR: Mayfair Community Centre will become Le Bistro on Saturday, when a taste of French country cooking is on offer.

Inquire for tickets at Mayfair for numbers are limited. Proceeds will go to Mayfair.

n FILM NIGHT: Goodbye Lenin is the film to be screened in All Stretton Village Hall tomorrow (Friday) at 7.30pm.

This is a 15 certificate film, and admission is £3.

n QUIZ NIGHT: Next Wednesday, is quiz night in Hope Bowdler Village Hall, starting at 7.30pm, with Ken Willis as quiz-master.

Teams of six are invited and the cost is £2 per player. Refreshments will be available.

n PRIZE BINGO: Acton Scott Village Hall is the venue for a prize bingo on Saturday, at 7pm.

n BONFIRE PARTY: There was an excellent turn out for the bonfire party at Acton Scott Village Hall, on November 5.

The organising committee would like to thank everyone who helped with the bonfire and fireworks, and with refreshments and other arrangements.

Previous fund-raising had provided a new market stall for the village hall, which was well used and christened on this occasion.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the event, the proceeds will go towards improving the grounds around the village hall.

n SCHOOL NEWS: Last year's Year 11 leavers will be returning to Church Stretton School to collect their certificates and catch up with former classmates at a specially arranged evening next Wednesday.

At St Lawrence's the Christmas fair is due to get under way at 3.30pm, on Thursday, November 25, when there will be toys, books, soft toys, tombola and nearly new clothing on sale.

The primary school will be closed to pupils on Friday, November 26, as it is a PD day.

During the week a number of pupils will have visited Wroxeter as part of their work on Roman history.
