A CONCERT at Leominster's Lion Ballroom will give a boost to the appeal for the planned statue of Sir Edward Elgar in the Cathedral Close in Hereford.
The programme on September 18 features three chamber music pieces, which Sir Edward completed towards the end of 1918.
The Solaris String Quartet and pianist Raphael Terroni will play the violin sonata, the string quartet and the piano quintet.
The adjective "autumnal" is often used in descriptions of this music.
Although Elgar lived another 16 years, they are among his last completed works, written while he was overwhelmed with sadness over the losses in the First World War.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Orchard Hive & Vine in Leominster or Outback Records in Hereford. For tickets by phone, ring 01432 355607.
